My inner thoughts

Tuesday, November 22, 2005

Hey guys! Wow, this must be the 1st post that I actually start with a greeting to you. Anyway, I’m quite a superstitious person, although I don’t believe in like walking under ladders give you bad luck or if a black cat walks by you get bad luck or something those kinds of old wives tale. Although ghosts or spontaneous combustion have not yet been proven scientifically, there is no reason for me to believe it is untrue. Maybe we just have not discovered the secrets for such phenomenon. But I’m not going to talk about ghosts or spontaneous combustion today but instead on the field of astrology.

There are 12 constellations in the zodiac. The best and the one that I’m most familiar with is constellation of Scorpius, the scorpion. In astrology, people born between the 23 of October to the 21 of November are grouped into the star sign of Scorpio. I happen to be 1 of those people (no surprise there)

Now I’m going to try to attempt to write about Scorpios using my limited knowledge and wikipedia. Scorpios are 1 of the fixed signs in the zodiac (others include (from wikipedia) Taurus, Leo and Aquarius). It is ruled jointly by Mars and Pluto. It is also water sign (others include (from wikipedia) Cancer and Pisces). Scorpio is the most powerful star sign in the zodiac. They are known to be proud, mysterious, determined and jealous. They are also very passionate people and loyal.

Scorpio is symbolized by the Scorpion. Intense and emotionally perceptive, you pick up on unspoken words and speak the language of gesture. Deep, mysterious and magnetically attractive, you yearn for emotional intimacy. If hurt, you really sting -- and you don't forgive easily!

As opposed to the 'roiling seas' seen in other Water Signs, a better motto for Scorpions would be 'still waters run deep’.

Haha I thought I said that I was like this before. Hmm looks like there might be some truth to this horoscope thing. Well that’s pretty much what I can think off about my sign. You can go to astrology.com to check it out if you really want.

Overall, I would like to believe that these things are somehow true. However, it is not practical as most of the predictions that you read about are so vague. I like the idea of fate though, that we are destined for something but I can attribute that to the type of books that I like to read. Maybe its just positive reinforcement. That sometimes when you get the prediction that holds true in your life you take the horoscopes seriously even though the other 40 times the prediction didn’t occur. Its almost like gambling, when you win a hand and so you convince yourself that you are feeling lucky even though you have lost a lot of games already. Or maybe after reading these astrology sites that describe your sign, you begin to subconsciously think that your 1 of them because us humans strive to be the norm and hence dislike to be an anomaly. So maybe I’m not proud or mysterious, or magnetically attractive but after reading this maybe my personality adjusts to these adjectives. Maybe its because I take the comfort in knowing that I’m not the only person who are a combination of those traits and there are many people, other Scorpios that are like me. Who knows?

18 years. I’ve been alive for 18 years. Already? Wow. At times, this ‘milestone’ just seem like it wouldn’t come. Every 1 of my friends are already 18 as well. So finally, the time has come for me to reach 18 too. Ha. Surely it took its time. Everytime someone says, hey lets go to town/ lets go to shadows/ lets go to Celsius etc, it seemed that the 18 yr mark gets further away and longer to reach. No offence taken guys, I don’t feel left out because I know that its really not your fault for me not being old enough to tag along with you.
Wow, I remember when I was just starting secondary school in Malaysia, I was as shy and timid as you can get. I got almost no confidence in socializing with other people, especially girls. (haha I think I couldn’t even form proper sentences, how embarrassing). How much have I changed in 7 years since then huh? Thanks to Tien Ming for that, he is the one who really started teaching me how to be more confident around people, especially girls lol.
I have to say that its really been my luck that I never really got the chance to build and maintain long and close friendships. In primary school, only 1 close friend from my standard 3 class got PTS. Then the transition to secondary school where 0, yea that’s right, none of my closest friends ended up in the same secondary school as me (Lee Karl transferred later to my school during the 2nd year). Then as I was starting to build good, solid friendships, I moved to New Zealand and I had to start new all over again. I have known you guys for 3 years now. All my other friends, aside from 2 people I have only really known for 2 years. So, you guys now are the longest and closest group of friends that I ever had. I really couldn’t wish for better friends than you guys because you already are the best.

Well, what I really want to say today is thanks to all my family and friends, all the people who have given me support throughout my life. Thank you for without you guys, I wouldn’t be who and where I am today.

Quote of the month: Hi 'insert name here'. I know you are probably wondering where you are. I would like to play a game.....'insert sick twisted game here'.
